Perhaps you receive reports without fully understanding what they mean. You’re responsible for budgets or financial decisions but don’t always feel confident making them. Or you simply wish someone would explain everything clearly, without assuming what you already know.

You’re not alone.

I’ve worked with many business owners and organisation leaders who believed they were “just not good with numbers”. In reality, they had never been given the right explanation or the opportunity to ask questions without feeling judged.

That’s where I come in.

I help people understand what their numbers are telling them, recognise what needs their attention and make better-informed decisions.

MY EXPERIENCE

I’m a CIMA Fellow with more than 15 years of experience across commercial businesses, charities and the social-enterprise sector.

Since starting my own business in 2019, I’ve supported organisations of different sizes with financial planning, cash flow, management information, systems, governance and business decision-making.

I’m also an experienced finance trainer, writer, assessor and examiner. These roles have strengthened my ability to take technical financial information and explain it in a way that feels relevant and manageable.

My approach is friendly, patient and practical.

I won’t hand you a complicated report and expect you to work everything out for yourself. I’ll explain what the figures mean, why they matter and how you can use that information.

I don’t just want you to receive financial information.

I want you to understand it.

MORE THAN MY DAY JOB

Supporting organisations goes beyond my client work.

I’m proud to serve on several boards, helping organisations strengthen governance and make informed financial decisions.

I am Treasurer of Sector 3 and the BDD Foundation, a director of a CIC and a Finance Governor at a local primary school.

I’m also passionate about inspiring the next generation of finance professionals. I volunteer with Young Enterprise, support careers events and mock interviews in local schools and work as a Principal T Level Examiner, apprenticeship assessor, academic writer and registered finance trainer.

These roles give me insight into the different ways people encounter finance—from running a business and governing an organisation to studying it for the first time.

WHY I DO WHAT I DO

I’ve seen capable people held back because they felt overwhelmed or excluded by finance.

Not because they lacked ability.

Not because they didn’t care.

Simply because no one had taken the time to explain it in a way that made sense.

I believe financial information should help people—not intimidate them.

That belief runs through all my work, whether I’m providing strategic support to a growing business, helping someone build their financial knowledge or working with a purpose-led organisation.

The type of support may be different, but the principle remains the same:

Finance should be clear, useful and connected to the decisions you need to make.

WHEN I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT FINANCE

Outside work, you’ll usually find me spending time with my two boys, planning our next family adventure or exploring somewhere new.

I’m naturally a night owl, but I still make time to learn something every day. That might involve reading a good book, practising Italian on Duolingo or trying something completely different.

I’ve recently taken up bell ringing and, after a 20-year break, rejoined an orchestra—proof that it’s never too late to rediscover something you enjoy.

I believe learning never stops. Whether I’m developing a new skill myself or helping someone become more confident with finance, I love seeing what becomes possible when things begin to make sense.
