I'M GLAD YOU'RE HERE

HI, I'M TANYA

If you’re here, chances are you’re brilliant at what you do—but when it comes to the finances, you sometimes wish someone would just explain it in plain English.

You’re not alone.

I’ve worked with so many business owners and organisation leaders who thought they were “just not good with numbers”, when in reality they’d simply never had someone explain finance in a way that made sense.

That’s where I come in.

I’m probably not your typical accountant. I don’t believe in drowning people in jargon or making finance feel complicated.

Instead, I help people understand their numbers, build their confidence and feel in control of their finances— whether they’re running a limited company, CIC or charity.

My goal isn’t just to give you the answers.

It’s to help you understand them.

MY STORY

I’m a CIMA Fellow with over 15 years’ experience working across commercial organisations, charities and the social enterprise sector.

Since starting my own business in 2019, I’ve helped organisations of all sizes understand what their numbers are really telling them, improve cash flow, plan for the future and make confident financial decisions.

Along the way, I’ve realised something.

The biggest challenge usually isn’t the numbers.

It’s confidence.

People often believe they’re “bad with finance” when really they’ve just never had someone explain it in a simple, practical way.

That’s why everything I do is built around making finance understandable.

MORE THAN MY DAY JOB

Supporting organisations goes far beyond my client work.

I’m proud to serve on several boards, helping organisations make informed financial decisions and ensuring good governance. I’m Treasurer of Sector 3 and Treasurer of the BDD Foundation, as well as Finance Governor at a local primary school.

I’m also passionate about inspiring the next generation of finance professionals. I volunteer with Young Enterprise, support careers events and mock interviews at local schools, work as a Principal T Level Examiner, apprenticeship assessor, academic writer and a registered finance trainer.

I regularly deliver free finance workshops across Greater Manchester because I believe everyone should have access to practical financial education, regardless of their background or budget.

WHY I DO WHAT I DO

I’ve seen so many brilliant people held back because they felt overwhelmed by finance.

Not because they weren’t capable.

Not because they weren’t intelligent.

Simply because nobody had ever explained it in a way they could understand.

I believe everyone deserves to feel confident with their finances, regardless of their background or whether they can afford a management accountant.

That’s why I created Nailing the Finances.

My mission is to make finance simple, practical and accessible, giving you the confidence to understand your numbers, make informed decisions and focus on what you do best.

Because when you understand your finances, everything changes.

You stop guessing.

You stop worrying.

You start making confident decisions.

And that’s when your organisation can really thrive.

WHEN I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT FINANCE..

Outside of work, you’ll usually find me spending time with my two boys, planning our next family adventure or exploring somewhere new.

I’m naturally a night owl, but I still make time every day to learn something new. Whether it’s reading a good book or practising Italian on Duolingo, I love challenging myself and discovering new things.

I’ve recently taken up bell ringing and after a 20-year break I’ve also rejoined an orchestra — proof that it’s never too late to rediscover something you love.

I believe learning never stops, and that’s something I bring into my work too. Whether I’m helping someone understand their finances or learning a new skill myself, I love seeing confidence grow.
